Safelist Marketing - a few comments...

I am pretty sure I have, at least briefly, talked about safelists before. However, I think a few points every now and then are always at place.

First of all, if you’re not already familiar with the term, a safelist is comprised of internet users who have agreed to provide their email addresses in exchange for the ability to regularly promote to the list’s membership. Usually there are hundreds, even thousands or hundreds of thousands, of users in a list - so it may be a very good place to do your promotions. There are free safelists and the ones where you pay for the opportunity to mail the list. Briefly a few points on the free ones:

Most of the free safelists out there are credit-based ones, so you basically get to send as many mails as you read. You get all the mails the other members send out, you open them and read them for a certain amount of time before you throw them away. Easily put.

And that can, believe me, be a real pain. You very soon may have your mailbox full of mails, thousands of them, and you have no time to open them, even less to read them. If you have joined a multitude of different safelists this will very, very soon be such a big problem so you simply give up with them. And with your current mail-provider.

And giving up is not a good option, how can you sell anything or get referrals if you don't show your stuff to people? Henry Ford, the business magnate, put it well when he said; A man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops the clock to save time.

I recommend you get a completely different mailing address, one from g-mail is excellent, and set that up for your safelists. That way it won't interrupt with your daily life in a harmful way. Be sure to absolutely NOT use your main email for this.

I will not go into any particular safelist this time, this is gettin long enough as it is, but I can say that the ones I use most at the moment, of the free ones, are European Safelist, Adchiever and Adsolutionline. The most important thing, one that so many people seem to overlook completely, is the content of your mail. You have to write a good-looking and a selling letter, or the ones getting it will not care for anything else than the credits they get for opening it.

LinkedIn - A social media for your business...

LinkedIn is a - way too often overlooked - way to get lots of traffic, sales and perhaps most importantly networking with future contacts to whatever your business may be. I have to admit that I have been very, very lazy in using LinkedIn myself over the years. And that I say with a huge amount of regret.

Well, anyways, LinkedIn - for those of you that don't know it - is basically a social media for businesses. There are over 300 million worldwide users and new ones are joining every second. It is HUGE!

I read a bunch of articles from sources like Forbes, Time, Fortune and many more - yes, I follow most of those on Twitter - and it suddenly struck me; This is way more important for us marketers and affiliates than any Facebook will ever be.

I found a nice little program that shows you all about marketing on LinkedIn called Linkedinfluence, created by Trevor Turnbull, that even shows you how to do marketing with a zero-budget, and that is very important for me when trying out something new!

Payza - The online bank and crypto-currency wallet...

I got a bit confused, and amazed, when I got a letter from one of my friends asking me about Payza, I was in the belief everyone and his dog already knew about this online bank.

When it comes to transferring money online there is, in my mind, only one option; Payza. Not only do they accept cash in almost every currency there is, but they also accept Bitcoin and deal with several other cryptos (read about that on the Payza-blog that here).

Cryptocurrency scams and how to avoid them...

I intended to briefly go over a few of the most common scams in the now so popular and fascinating cryptocurrency business. Oh boy, how I got it wrong. All wrong. The short article I wrote soon grew into a five part series, then into seven part and now it is developing to a smaller book. And it is still not finished.

Simply put, I took on a way too big project for a blog of this kind to handle. Even if I break it to parts it is way too massive.

Well, I will - I have to since I started on it - finish it, hopefully sooner than later. Then I'll find a way to get it uploaded somewhere so you people can get it downloaded and have a look at it.

Sick Leave For Online Marketers

I turned in with a cold. Not bad, but seriously sick enough to feel like staying in bed for a couple of days. Sure, I called in sick (heh!), and my bosses (me, myself and I) were very understanding. But I could not promise myself any paid days off. Paid sick days, often referred to as sick leave or paid sick leave, guarantees workers time off to stay home when they are sick without losing pay or their jobs. A deal that only partly can be applied in a case as mine; "NO, you bugger, you DON'T get paid... But I can't fire you either!"

It is a disaster for most of us marketers that concentrate a big proportion of our marketing strategies and -campaigns on traffic-exchange to get sick. Simply because way too often you won't be able to do those clicks/day demanded to have your ads running.

I am fortunate enough to not bee that sick too often, maybe once every other year at most, but it still got me thinking of how we poor self-employed online marketers can prepare for such a disaster.

One thing, of course, is to stack up a nice pile of credits in all the different places you normally use to advertise... A thing often easier said than done.

Another way is to use a bunch of free safelists, and that is what I did this time. I was lucky enough to have a self-made list of responsible ones that I made a few weeks back while - for a totally different reason - was doing some research on them. And I had a few responses too, lucky me.

Weekend off

One of the benefits with the "work at home"-concept is the ability of taking a day off whenever you want. Or a weekend.

After all, that is one of the main reasons why we become online marketers in the first place. Now, when I have done this for five years more or less, I finally have the financial freedom to do so.

It took time and errors, and most of the errors could have been avoided. Naturally, but I have always had a "mind of my own", as they say - my wife hates it, but we are still married ;) - and tried to find new and easier solutions for the things thousands and thousands before me already tried and found to be good.

Those two pictures I've placed here I took yesterday, when out sailing with my old dad, and I think they illustrate the true meaning of "freedom". Oh man, I am so lucky!
